(1) The Commission was informed of the negative reply by the United Nations Secretariat concerning the two points relating respectively to the payment by the United Nations of the travel expenses and daily allowances of the Commission members’ personal assistants, and to the increase in the allowance of $20 fixed for the Commission members themselves. It was decided not to press the points. The question could be raised if necessary once the Commission was installed at Jerusalem.

(2) Communication to the Governments of Israel and Transjordan notifying them of the arrival of the members of the Commission at Jerusalem on Monday 24 January. It was decided to make no reference to the passage in the General Assembly resolution concerning the responsibility, with regard to the Commission’s security, of the States exercising authority in the Territory in which the Commission was to carry out its activity.

(3) On the proposal of the French representative, it was decided to set up a press and publicity service at Jerusalem in order to enable the Commission to be kept informed of the reports published by the leading world newspapers and the Arab and Jewish press on the subject of the Palestine question.

(4) The Commission decided to send a telegram to the Truce Commission notifying it of its arrival and installation at Jerusalem on 24 January.

(5) The Chairman raised the question of the Commission’s extra. Territoriality. It was decided to consider the principle of extraterritoriality as established.
