DAILY NEWS SUMMARY

Jerusalem, March 18:- Haifa was the center of violence today when 6 British soldiers and 7 Jews were killed and 1soldier, 1 British official of the Palestine Railways and 1 Arab were wounded.
Jewish sources reported that 250 armed Arabs attacked a Jewish armored car outside the Arab village of Ishwa in the foothills of Judea and killed its crew of 8 Haganah men.
Another Jewish convoy of 21 trucks, guarded by a British Army escort was attacked by Arabs on the Jaffa-Gazza road.
Jerusalem was generally quiet throughout the day.
The unofficial death toll since November 29 rose to 1,830. (N.Y.TIMES, N.Y. HERALD TRIBUNE).
Hebron, Palestine. March 18:- Troops of the Arab Legion moved into Palestine today and took over security control in two Arab districts. They are the first soldiers belonging to a regular army of a neighboring Arab state to enter Palestine in their own uniform “under authority of the Arab League”.
Sheik Mohammed Ali Jabari, Mayor of Hebron, told a reporter: “They are here representing and under orders of the Arab League, not King Abdullah of Trans-Jordan”.
The soldiers moved into evacuated British Army barracks in the Hebron district and into quarters in Nablus. (N.Y. HERALD TRIBLNE).
