SUMMARY STATEMENT BY THE SECRETARY-GENERAL OF MATTERS OF WHICH

THE SECURITY COUNCIL IS SEIZED AND OF THE STAGE REACHED

IN THEIR CONSIDERATION

Pursuant to rule 11 of the provisional rules of procedure of the Security Council, I submit the following summary statement of matters of which the Security Council is seized and of the stage reached in their consideration on 12 March 1949.

12. The Palestine question (see also S/1273 and S/1279).

By cablegram dated 11 March 1949 (S/1284) the Acting Mediator informed the Security Council that Israel and Transjordan signed a General Cease Fire Agreement on 11 March at Rhodes.

During the period 5 to 12 March 1949, the following documents were distributed to the Council:

(a) Corrigendum to Cablegram dated 23 February 1949 from the Acting Mediator to the Secretary-General transmitting the text of an Armistice Agreement between Egypt and Israel. (S/1264/Corr.1)

(b) Corrigendum to Addendum to Cablegram dated 23 February 1949 from the Acting Mediator to the Secretary-General transmitting the text of an Armistice Agreement between Egypt and Israel. (S/1264/Add.1/Corr.1)

(c) Cablegram dated 11 March 1949 from the Acting Mediator for Palestine to the President of the Security Council concerning Alleged Military Operations by Israeli forces in the Southern Negev. (S/1285)
