France to transfer €10 million in budgetary aid to PA – Press release/Non-UN document

Payment by France of €10 million in budgetary aid to the Palestinian Authority (September 24, 2012)

France announced yesterday the forthcoming transfer of €10 million in budgetary aid to the Palestinian Authority (PA). This is the second installment of French budgetary aid to the PA for 2012, following the €10 million announced by the minister during President Abbas’s visit to Paris in June.

This announcement was made within the framework of the meeting in New York of the Ad-Hoc Liaison Committee, in which the main donors to the Palestinian Authority are participating.

France shares the observations made during this meeting by the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the United Nations that the Palestinian Authority remains ready to establish a functional State despite the current financial difficulties.

France, which remains committed alongside the Palestinians to building the institutions of the future State, also joins its voice to the Committee’s calls for the urgent remobilization of donors, notably the United States and certain Gulf countries, which is more necessary than ever, as well as decisive action by the Israeli authorities to remove the restrictions on the viable economic development of the Palestinian Territories, notably in Area C and Gaza.
