Blair congratulates Dr. Rami AL Hamdallah on his appointment as the next Palestinian PM

Wednesday, Jun 05, 2013 in Office of the Quartet Representative

Commenting on the appointment of Dr. Rami Al Hamdallah as the new Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority, Quartet Representative Tony Blair said:

“I would like to congratulate H.E. Dr Rami Al Hamdallah on his appointment as the Prime Minister. The appointment of Dr. Hamdallah comes at a critical juncture, with many challenges but also a real opportunity for a credible political process.

I look forward to working closely with him on expanding the Palestinian economy, and boosting the institution-building agenda of the PA in preparation for independence and the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state. I believe that the viability of the future Palestinian state will depend on a strong and sustainable economy, and I believe that we need to continue to grow the economy in parallel with the resumption of political talks.

I would also like to take this opportunity to express my deep appreciation for outgoing Prime Minister Dr. Salam Fayyad and his enormous efforts to promote Palestinian economic prosperity and the institutions of the future Palestinian state.”
