Maltese Prime Minister visits the Knesset, reaffirms support for two-State solution – Press release/Non-UN document


THE PRIME MINISTER VISITS THE ISRAELI PARLIAMENT, THE KNESSET

In a visit to the Israeli Parliament – the Knesset – the Prime Minister Joseph Muscat met the Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat emphasised on the areas of common ground that exist between Malta and Israel. Earmarking on key areas where Malta can give support to Israel, Prime Minister Dr Muscat stated "we can be honest-brokers within the EU."

The current situation in the Middle East was also highlighted during the meeting.  Referring to the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Malta's position in favour of two state solution.

Referring to the relations between Israel and Malta, the Speaker of the Knesset Yuli-Yoel Edelstein stated that today's visit of the Prime Minister of Malta shall enhance the relationship between both countries. Speaker Edelstein remarked that "Malta is a good friend, represented in the European Union and we are happy to work in cooperation together".

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat was accompanied by his delegation, which include Foreign Affairs Minister George Vella, Tourism Minister Karmenu Vella and Member of Parliament Charles Buhagiar.
