42 Report by the Director-General on the reconstruction and development of Gaza:

implementation of 186 EX/Decision 35 (187 EX/42; 187 EX/54)

After considering this item, the Programme and External Relations Commission recommended by a vote taken by roll-call that the Executive Board adopt the following draft decision, with 40 votes in favour, 1 vote against and 15 abstentions, the United States of America having voted against; are annexed to the summary record of the seventh plenary meeting of the Board, at which the oral report of the Programme and External Relations Commission (PX) was presented:

The Executive Board,

1. Having examined document 187 EX/42,

2. Recalls its previous decision 185 EX/Decision 37 on the reconstruction and development of Gaza;

3. Notes that the status of Palestine is the subject of the ongoing deliberations at the United Nations in New York;

4. Also notes the slow progress in the implementation of 185 EX/Decision 37;

5. Thanks the Director-General for the initial progress achieved in the implementation of 185 EX/Decision 37, and invites her to maintain her efforts to fully implement that decision;

6. Also invites the Director-General to submit to it at its 189th session a follow-up report, and decides to include this item in the agenda of its 189th session.
