Secretary General Receives Austria's FM (19-2-2005) 

Secretary General Amre Moussa of the Arab League of States received FM Blasnek of Austria. Official Spokesman Hossam Zaki of the Arab League said the meeting tackled a number of prominent developments in the region, specifically the situation concerning the Arab-Israeli conflict, the Palestinian cause, Iraq and the Euro-Arab dialogue.

The Austrian official displayed keenness in knowing Secretary General Moussa's viewpoint over the latest developments concerning the Palestinian-Israeli relations, specifically following the Sharm El Sheikh summit, Zaki said. He further pointed out that Secretary General Moussa briefed her on his perspective over the current situation based on the importance of implementing the roadmap by Israel in addition to all other deals reached.
Moussa also stressed that any unfair settlement that Israel may seek to impose on the Palestinian side would lead to further complication and tense in the region.

The Austrian official also enquired about Secretary General Moussa's viewpoint over the situation in Iraq following the latest elections, Zaki said. In this concern, Moussa stressed the importance of ensuring a comprehensive participation by all Iraqi factions in the political process and drafting the final constitution. He underlined the importance of having this done within a framework of a national dialogue that would achieve understanding among all political and ethnic factions of the Iraqi society.

According to Zaki, the meeting also tackled the means of activating a Euro-Arab dialogue within the framework of the policy adopted by the EU for collaboration with its neighboring countries.
