Middle East: Federal Foreign Minister Westerwelle welcomes agreement on holding new peace talks

Federal Foreign Minister Westerwelle issued the following statement on US Secretary of State John Kerry’s announcement of the outcome of his mediation efforts in the Middle East:

I welcome the likely agreement on the commencement of direct talks between Israel and the Palestinians achieved through the mediation of the United States. This would be a major step forward and an enormous move by the two parties towards each other.

It would also be a great success for John Kerry’s untiring efforts for the resumption of direct peace talks in the Middle East.
