ANNEX

Letter dated 24 October 1985 from the Permanent Observer for the

Palestine Liberation Organization to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General

I am instructed by Yasser Arafat, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization to bring the following to your immediate attention

On 22 October 1985, Zionist settlers attacked Palestinian motorists between the Israeli occupied Palestinian Gaza Strip and Palestinian West Bank.  13 Palestinians received injuries requiring hospitalization.  Their names are:

1. Samir Ustaz

2. Mohamad Harazeh

3. Rizek Aiyan

4. Hassan Abu Ghoureh

5, Khaled Kilab

6. Ahmad Al Diri

7. Darwish Abou Hassirah

8. Mohammad Al Chanaz

9. Fawzi Al Chillah

10. Samir Abdel Latif

11. Fawzi Balouta

12. Moussa Ya'i

13. Ghazi Yassin

The number of Palestinians being detained under the 4 August 1985 Administrative Detention Laws continues to increase.  Presently there are 186 Palestinians in various Israeli prisons.  Last week the Israeli occupation authorities carried out wide-scale arrests in the Bethlehem area, particularly in the villages of Ta'amirah, Abbadiya, and the Palestinian refugee camp in the area.

In the Israeli occupied Palestinian Gaza Strip, 16 Palestinian homes were destroyed under the pretext that they were built without planning permission.  Also in the Gaza Strip 20 acres of agricultural land belonging to Palestinians in the Khan Younis area were expropriated by the Israeli occupation authorities on the 21 October 1985, for the establishment of a new Zionist settlement.

On the 20 October 1985, the Israeli occupation authorities disclosed a government decision to establish a Zionist settlement on agricultural lands expropriated from the Palestinian village of Bidya in the Israeli occupied Palestinian West Bank.

The Israeli occupation authorities closed indefinitely the Palestinian weekly Al-Bayader Al Siyassiya.

Chairman Arafat wishes to assert that these criminal acts can only lead to an exacerbation of the already explosive situation in the Israeli occupied Palestinian territories and calls on your good offices to take immediate and effective measures to put an end to this intolerable and inhuman situation.
