Today is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.  

At 10:00 a.m., in the Trusteeship Council Chamber, the General Assembly is expected to hold an informal meeting of the plenary on the intergovernmental negotiations on the question of equitable representation on and increase in the membership of the Security Council and other matters related to the Council.  

Today, the 2026 Global Humanitarian Policy Forum will take place online and at the UN Secretariat Building in New York from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The session is being co-organized by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and Nuffield College, University of Oxford.    

At noon, there will be a briefing by La Neice Collins, Spokesperson for the President of the General Assembly, this will be followed by a briefing by the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General, broadcast live on UN Web TV.   

At 3:00 p.m., in the Trusteeship Council Chamber, the General Assembly is expected to hold an informal dialogue with a candidate for the position of the next Secretary-General

In Geneva, the 62nd session of the Human Rights Council will take place from 15 June to 07 July.  

Also, in Geneva, the 38th meeting of the Chairpersons of Human Rights Treaty Bodies will be held from 15 to 19 June.  

In Vienna, the 69th session of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space will continue until 18 June.    

Today, the World Health Organization (WHO) is expected to release its first report on Paediatric Drug Optimization for dengue, on World Dengue Day. The report advances efforts to develop child-focused treatments for the disease, outlining key research priorities, development pathways, and investment needs to accelerate access to safe and effective dengue therapeutics for children.   

Tuesday, 16 June   

Today is International Day of Family Remittances.  

Today, the Secretary-General will travel to Haiti for a solidarity visit, during which he will meet men, women and children whose lives have been affected by violence. He will see firsthand the humanitarian and security challenges facing the country, as well as efforts by national authorities and the international community to restore stability and support the Haitian people.    

From 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Conference Room 6, the Department of Peace Operations (DPO), in partnership with the Governments of Canada, Germany, Uruguay and Zambia, will convene an event titled “From Commitment to Impact: Advancing Uniformed Women’s Participation and Leadership in UN Peacekeeping”. The event will highlight progress, outline priorities and share concrete initiatives implemented by the UN Secretariat and contributing countries and will mark the deployment of the Network for Uniformed Women Peacekeepers across all United Nations peacekeeping missions. Wednesday, 17 June          

Today is World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought.  

In New York, the 23rd Plenary Meeting of the 2026 ECOSOC Humanitarian Affairs Segment - Economic and Social Council will take place from will take place from 17 to 19 June.  

From 10 am to 6 pm, the SDG 16 Conference 2026 will be convened in Conference Room 4 at United Nations Headquarters in New York. The meeting is co-convened by the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nations, the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) and the International Development Law Organization (IDLO).  

At noon, the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General will hold a press briefing, broadcast live on UN Web TV.        

The guests at the Noon Briefing will be Jean-Martin Bauer, Director of WFP’s Food Security and Nutrition Analysis Service and Rein Paulsen, Director of FAO’s Office of Emergencies and Resilience. They will brief reporters virtually on FAO-WFP Hunger Hotspots.     

Thursday, 18 June        

Today is  Sustainable Gastronomy Day, and it is also International Day for Countering Hate Speech.   

At 10:00 a.m., in Conference Room 4, there will be a high-level event to mark the International Day for Countering Hate Speech focused on partnerships and coalition building, with emphasis on practical approaches and tools for countering hate speech. This event is being co-organized by the Permanent Mission of Morocco and the Office on Genocide Prevention and the Responsibility to Protect (OSAPG).  

At 11:00 a.m., there will be a hybrid briefing by Vanessa Frazier, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict on the Secretary-General's Annual Report on Children and Armed Conflict.    

At noon, the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General will hold a press briefing, broadcast live on UN Web TV.    

At 5:00 p.m., at the North Lawn Area of UN Headquarters, there will be an event to celebrate the 12th International Day of Yoga at the United Nations, marked on 21 June. 

Friday, 19 June      

Today is International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict.  

At 10:00 a.m., in Conference Room 11, an event will be held to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict.        

At 10:00 a.m., the General Assembly will hold an informal meeting of the plenary to hear a briefing on the Independent International Scientific Panel on AI

At noon, the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General will hold a press briefing, broadcast live on UN Web TV.    

In Geneva, the UN Information Service will hold its bi-weekly briefing for journalists.
