Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.

They discussed the cooperation between Viet Nam and the United Nations, including the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and disaster management, and reaffirmed the importance of the UN delivering as One.

On climate change, the Secretary-General encouraged Viet Nam to ratify the Paris Agreement in the near future.

The Secretary-General also discussed the ASEAN-UN partnership and regional issues, including the South China Sea.
