The Secretary-General met today, 22 September 2011, with H.E. Mr. David Cameron, Prime Minister, First Lord of the Treasury and Minister for the Civil Service of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

On that occasion, they had an in-depth exchange on the situation in the Middle East and North Africa. The Secretary-General once again expressed his appreciation to the United Kingdom for its commitment in maintaining its level of overseas development assistance, and its generous contribution to various United Nations initiatives, including the Peacebuilding Fund and various humanitarian appeals. The Secretary-General commented that this was an example to other countries also facing fiscal austerity challenges. The Secretary-General and the Prime Minister also exchanged views on change management and other reforms.
