On the eve of the presidential election in Gabon, the Secretary-General calls on all Gabonese to exercise their civic duty responsibly and looks forward to the holding of the poll in a peaceful and credible manner. The Secretary-General commends the Government of Gabon and the Autonomous and Permanent National Electoral Commission (CENAP) for the timely preparations for the election. He further welcomes the deployment of regional and international election observers in Gabon and stresses the importance of the free and responsible participation of the media. The Secretary-General urges all political stakeholders, in particular the candidates, to exercise restraint, abstain from any acts of incitement or the use of inflammatory statements, and maintain a peaceful atmosphere before, during and after the election. He calls on all candidates to contribute to the integrity of the electoral process by addressing any complaints that may arise through established legal and constitutional channels.

A la veille des élections présidentielles au Gabon, le Secrétaire général appelle tous les Gabonais à exercer leur devoir civique de façon responsable et compte sur la tenue d'élections pacifiques et crédibles.
Le Secrétaire général félicite le gouvernement gabonais et la Commission électorale nationale autonome et permanente (CENAP) d’avoir organisé les élections en temps voulu. Il se félicite par ailleurs du déploiement d'observateurs régionaux et internationaux au Gabon et souligne l'importance d’une participation libre et responsable des médias.
Le Secrétaire général exhorte tous les acteurs politiques, en particulier les candidats, à faire preuve de retenue, à s'abstenir de toute incitation à la violence ou de tout propos incendiaire et à maintenir une atmosphère paisible avant, pendant et après les élections. Il appelle tous les candidats à contribuer à l’intégrité du processus électoral en résolvant tout grief par les voies légales et constitutionnelles établies.
