Statements | Ban Ki-moon, Former Secretary-General
Your Excellency, Mr. Elbegdorj Tsakhia, President of Mongolia, Excellencies, Distinguished guests, Ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to join you in celebrating the 25th anniversary of Mongolia’s transition to democracy. I commend the Mongolian people for your determination and contribution to your country’s democratic path. I saw some of that progress during my unforgettable visit to Mongolia in 2009. I am pleased that you are making the most of this milestone by further strengthening institutions and finding ways to enhance the country’s governance, elections and economy. I encourage Mongolia to continue to be a champion for democracy and human rights worldwide. Once again, thank you for your leadership. I look forward to your continued efforts to consolidate democracy and advance peace, development and human rights. “Bai-YER-La” (thank you).
