The Secretary-General met with the President of the Republic of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos Calderón. The Secretary-General congratulated the President on the significant progress made in the peace talks, particularly the recent agreement reached by the Colombian Government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC-EP) on a Special Jurisdiction for Peace.
The Secretary-General reiterated his support for the peace process and expressed confidence that his appointed delegate, Mr. Jean Arnault, will contribute to the discussions of the sub-commission on end-of-conflict issues.
The Secretary-General and President Santos also discussed the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. The Secretary-General applauded Colombia for reflecting the Sustainable Development Goals in its national legislation.
