Readout of Secretary-General's meeting with Foreign Minister of Guyana, H.E. Ms. Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon met the Foreign Minister of Guyana, H.E. Ms. Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, on the margins of the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly today in New York.

They exchanged views on the border controversy between Guyana and Venezuela and what option would be best to address it, given the complexity of the situation.

The Secretary-General commended Guyana’s leadership in intergovernmental consultations on financing for development and climate change.
