The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, Vice-President of the Republic of South Sudan.

They discussed the current situation in South Sudan, particularly Jonglei. They also discussed the negotiations between South Sudan and Sudan in Addis Ababa under the auspices of the African Union High Level Implementation Panel (AUHIP), including the way forward on Abyei.

The Secretary-General commended the Government of South Sudan and President Kiir in particular for reaching agreements with the Government of Sudan on post-secession issues.
