On 17 April, the Secretary-General met with HRH Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, the Prime Minister, HE Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Mr. Jean Asselborn and other senior officials. The Secretary-General expressed his deep appreciation for the excellent cooperation between the UN and Luxembourg.
In their meetings, a range of issues of mutual interest were discussed, including Syria, Mali, Guinea-Bissau, DPRK, the Middle East Peace Process and Sudan/South Sudan. They also discussed the Secretary-General’s priorities for his second term and the eurozone financial and economic crisis. The Secretary-General thanked the Grand Duke for his commitment to attend the Rio+20 Conference in June 2012.
