On 25 April, the CTC/CTED concluded a follow-up visit to Uganda. With the active support and participation of Ugandan authorities, the delegation was able to engage on a full range of issues from legal and criminal justice to the financing of terrorism, border security and law enforcement, countering violent extremism, and more. The team benefited from the expertise of representatives from the International Civil Aviation Organization, the International Organization for Migration and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
CTED conducts a follow-up visit to Uganda.
The delegation noted considerable progress since the 2008 comprehensive visit, as well as identified areas where technical assistance would be useful to strengthen responses in compliance with international requirements and the evolving terrorism threat. Meetings were also held with the international community, civil society and the UN Country Team. The three day visit, conducted between 22-25 April, included on site visits to the Entebbe International Airport, the Forensic Laboratory and the National Human Rights Commission and concluded with a debrief to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
