Chair of the Counter-Terrorism Committee
H.E. Mr. Tarek Ladeb currently serves as Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tunisia to the United Nations and will represent Tunisia on the Security Council for the period 2020-2021.
Mr. Ladeb served as the Director of Arab and Islamic Organizations in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tunisia from November 2015 to September 2019 and has also held a number of other positions in the Ministry, including Coordinator of Arab and African Affairs (2007-2008) and Counsellor (2007-2009).
Mr. Ladeb has also served as Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations (2019-2020); Ambassador to Oman (2011-2015); Chargé d’affaires in the Embassy of Tunisia to Egypt; Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States (2010-2011); Chargé d’affaires in the Embassy of Tunisia to Iraq (2002-2007); and Deputy Head of Mission in the Embassies of Tunisia to Jordan (1994-1998) and the Syrian Arab Republic (1998-2000).
Mr. Ladeb holds a Master’s Degree in Translation (Arabic-English-Russian) from the Bourguiba Institute of Modern Languages at the University of Tunis and a Degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the Ecole Nationale d’Administration de Tunis. He speaks Arabic, French, English and Russian. He was born on 15 November 1968, and is married with two children.
