Marcio Burity

Márcio Burity is a career diplomat at Permanent Mission of Angola to the United Nations, currently covering the Economic and Financial Committee (Second Committee). Angolan Delegate to the Administrative and Budgetary Committee (Fifth Committee) of the UN General Assembly (2012-2018). Chair of the African Group of Experts to the Fifth Committee during the 72nd session
of the United Nations General Assembly (2017- 2018). Vice-Chair and Bureau Member of the Fifth Committee of the General Assembly during the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (2016-2017). Member of the Group of Government Experts for Military Expenditures established by the Secretary General of United Nations (2016-2017)

On behalf to the African Group and G77 and China, led many aspects of the negotiaton of the UN regular budget, peacekeeping budget, management reform, and reform of the peace and security pillar, and Special Political Missions. Worked on Security Council portfolios and African Political issues, including when Angola served as non-permenent member of the Security Council (2017-2018), mainly on resolution 2409 (2018) related to Republic Democratic of Congo and in Peacekeeping.

Expert for bilateral agreements and cooperations with Asia and Oceania region at the Ministry of Foreign Affairsof Angola (2005-2012).
