PRESIDENT ESPINOSA WILL VISIT THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES
President María Fernanda Espinosa will travel to the United Arab Emirates. Ms. Espinosa will visit Abu Dhabi, the capital city, and Dubai, to take part in the World Government Summit (WGS) and hold bilateral meetings with the country’s leadership. On 10 February, in Dubai, the PGA will speak at events on climate health and Sustainable Development Goals implementation (SDGs), she will have bilateral meetings with the Vice- President, Prime Minister, Minister of Defence of the United Arab Emirates, and Ruler of Dubai, H.E. Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashed Al Maktoum. Ms. Espinosa will also be received by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, H.E. Thani Al-Zeyoudi, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. President Espinosa will be a guest speaker at the formal opening of the World Government Summit. On 11 February, the PGA will travel to Abu Dhabi, where she will pay a visit to the Women Peacekeeping Training Centre in Abu Dhabi and have a bilateral meeting with the Crown Prince, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Ms. Espinosa will meet women leaders at a luncheon including the female ministers and the speaker of the Parliament.
The President’s delegation includes a senior adviser, her personal assistant and a communications specialist. All travel costs are being covered by the United Arab Emirates Government and the PGA’s office trust fund.
Ms. Espinosa will be back in New York on Tuesday 12 February.
