The President of the 72nd session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Miroslav Lajčák, met today with H.E. Mr. Shankar Das Bairagi,  Foreign Secretary of Nepal. They discussed issues related to migration, peace, sustainable development, and United Nations reform. The President commended Nepal for its active role within the United Nations, including in relation to the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs). The President encouraged Nepal to actively participate in the events that he would be organizing during the 72nd session, including on sustaining peace, water, financing for development, youth and migration. Mr. Lajčák also praised Nepal’s strong commitment to multilateralism and the United Nations, noting the country’s significant contributions to United Nations peacekeeping operations.
