Why is this action important?
Peace is more likely to last when women help shape it. This strengthens accountability for the UN to uphold its commitments and ensures that women are fully, equally, safely and meaningfully included in all mediation and peace processes it leads.
What happens next?
DPPA will continue to leverage the 25th anniversary of Security Council resolution 1325 (2000) and the Women, Peace and Security Agenda to accelerate efforts on women’s meaningful participation in peace processes. Such efforts will be shared in the next Secretary-General’s annual report on Women, Peace and Security.
