Twenty-five years of the Counter-Terrorism Committee
Today, 28 September 2026, marks the 25th anniversary of the adoption of resolution 1373 (2001) and the establishment of the Counter-Terrorism Committee.
On 28 September 2001, in the wake of the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001 against the United States, the Security Council unanimously adopted resolution 1373 (2001) under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter, defining a broad counter-terrorism mandate for the international community.

CTED at side events for 2026 Counter-Terrorism Week
The Fourth United Nations Counter-Terrorism Week will be held from Friday, 26 June to Thursday, 2 July 2026.
