Macquarie University is located in Sydney, Australia. Committed to advancing sustainability, we align our teaching, research and operations with the UN SDGs. Our vision fosters a regenerative future where environmental, social and economic dimensions coexist harmoniously. The Faculty of Science and Engineering addresses key sustainability challenges, including biodiversity loss and climate change, contributing directly to SDG 15: Life on Land. Through innovative research at the ARC Training Centre for Bioactives, Centre of Excellence in Synthetic Biology and Applied Biosciences Department, we develop sustainable practices and technologies that protect ecosystems and promote responsible agriculture. Our sustainability training course will reach 28,000 students and staff by 2028, driving positive behaviour change.

UNAI SDG Hub 15 Vice-Chair for Research: Washington University in St. Louis

Washington University in St. Louis advances SDGs through research, education, operations, and programming. SPHERE (Solutions through Planetary Health Research) leads this work by advancing research on environment-health links and sustainable solutions. Coursework across Washington University’s nine schools like The Endgame of Entrepreneurship integrates SDG thinking into curricula and programming. Events such as Centering Equity and Inclusion: Gender, Health, and the Sustainable Development Goals foster dialogue across all sectors of the campus. The Office of Sustainability embeds sustainability into campus operations and leads waste reduction and energy efficiency initiatives. Centers including Center for the Environment, Living Earth Collaborative, and Tyson Research Center catalyze research on climate, biodiversity, environmental justice, and resilience.

UNAI SDG Hub 15 Vice-Chair for Teaching and Education: University of Malaysia Sarawak

At the University of Malaysia, Sarawak (UNIMAS), support for SDG 15 is integrated into teaching, research, and community engagement. The university conducts applied research on local ecosystems, promotes environmentally responsible practices on campus, and collaborates closely with communities to enhance biodiversity protection and awareness. Through field-based learning and outreach initiatives, both students and staff gain a deeper understanding of human-nature relationships.

As the UNAI SDG 15 Vice-Chair for Outreach and Partnership, UNIMAS positions itself as a Global South reference institution, guided by the Nexus Biodiversity Strategic Action Plan 2026–2030. his comprehensive framework connects conservation, traditional knowledge, community transformation, innovation, and net-zero goals to achieve measurable ecological, social, and global impacts.
