The UN Library Knowledge Network represents a forward-looking initiative to strategically reposition and expand the United Nations Depository Library Programme. This effort seeks to establish a dynamic, inclusive knowledge network centered on the Organization’s founding document—the UN Charter—and the actions and principles derived from it.

In early 2025, the United Nations Dag Hammarskjöld Library invited feedback on a concept proposal from individuals, libraries, professional associations, and other knowledge institutions worldwide. In 2025 and 2026, we convened a series of virtual focus groups to foster connections, exchange perspectives, and better understand regional contexts globally.

Regular updates about the status of the initiative are featured in the monthly Depository Library Newsletter. Sign up below to be added to the list of recipients.

Please note that in earlier communications as well as in the concept proposal the network was referred to as the UN Charter Libraries Knowledge Network. In response to constructive feedback from the community and to make the name clearer and more accessible, it has been updated to UN Library Knowledge Network.
