Remarks at Reception at the 20th Internet Governance Forum

Norway

Good evening, everyone.

Let me begin by warmly thanking our Host Country, the Government of Norway, and Her Excellency the Minister, for their generous hospitality and for organizing this wonderful reception.

It’s a pleasure to be here.

The Internet Governance Forum has championed a pioneering multistakeholder approach to digital governance.

For 20 years now, the IGF has brought together governments, the private sector, civil society, the technical community, and intergovernmental organizations.

This diversity of voices gives the IGF its strength fostering open, inclusive, and constructive dialogue for shaping our digital future.

This year is especially significant as we approach WSIS+20, a critical juncture for evaluating the achievements of this multistakeholder model over the past two decades.

PCo-facilitated by Kenya and Albania, this itself is already taking place in a multistakeholder format.

In December, at the General Assembly’s WSIS+20 high-level meeting, we expect greater clarity on the future of digital governance beyond 2025, including the mandate of the IGF.

It will be a defining moment, and I trust that the spirit of open dialogue and collaboration that brings us here tonight will guide us toward a successful outcome.

Thank you again to our hosts, and to all you, for your commitment to this important journey.

Enjoy the evening.
