On 27 January 2022, the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz death camp, the UN Chamber Music Society of the United Nations Staff Recreation Council (UNCMS), will perform a virtual concert in memory of the victims of the Holocaust. Celebration of GIS day: Mapping 17 SDGs
To celebrate GIS (Geographical Information System) day, and to showcase the use of geospatial information and the contributions of cartography to provide insights and knowledge for a better world, maps on each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) prepared by the United Nations Geospatial team will be released through the UN Geospatial website highlighting one SDG per day beginning on GIS day.
*GIS day is to celebrate spatial and geographic technologies and to promote awareness of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or Geographic Information sciences.

The 3rd Edition of the MSc Human Rights and Diplomacy to start in January 2022
03 November 2021, Geneva, Switzerland – the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and University of Stirling are pleased to announce the third edition of the joint Master of Science in Human Rights and Diplomacy.
During this MSc programme, students will learn about the practice and theory of human rights laws and politics, the UN human rights institutions, their history, and their philosophical foundations. Students will be taught by top human rights researchers and will receive practical training in negotiating draft documents and making a difference from experienced UN personnel.

On 28 September 2001, the Security Council adopted its resolution 1373 (2001), a landmark resolution that defined a broad counter-terrorism mandate for the international community and established the Counter-Terrorism Committee to monitor Member States’ implementation of its provisions. This unanimous recognition by the Security Council of the severe threat posed by terrorism to international peace and security was a pivotal moment in the international community’s counter-terrorism response to terrorism.
