The Division of Administration in the Department of Operational Support wishes to inform delegates and staff that steam services to the Main UNHQ complex will be shut-off on Saturday April 12, 2025 at 0900. This includes the Secretariat Building, General Assembly, Conference Building, Library, and South Annex Building. The shutdown is required for the utility provider, Consolidated Edison, to conduct emergency repairs to the steam service. The service outage is expected to last 10 hours.
During this period, heat and hot water may not be available All UN Staff and personnel who work on Saturdays and whose presence is not required at UNHQ during this time are requested to plan to work from home or another location. Remote office capabilities will be unaffected.
Additionally, during this service outage, the Plant Engineering Section will be conducting repairs to the steam system in the parking garage on the south ramp from the 3B to the 2B level. This ramp will be closed to all traffic on Saturday, 12 April from 0900 -1500. Entrance to the 3B level will be closed and vehicles will be directed to the North ramp (which is normally closed) to exit the 3B level. Vehicles which enter the garage on Friday evening or early Saturday morning should park on the 1B or 2B levels.
