In 2020, the Dag Hammarskjöld Library increased its global reach and found new ways of working with the UN community during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.  


Unpaywall and Open Access

If you have searched the Dag Hammarskjöld Library catalogue recently, you may have noticed a new feature:  the addition of pink PDFs in your results list which link to the full text of open access articles.  The new links are supported by the Unpaywall database, a non-profit service that has indexed over 27 million open access scholarly articles.

Remote access to Library services

Following the advice of the United Nations Secretary-General in response to Covid-19, staff of the Dag Hammarskjöld Library will be telecommuting until further notice.  

The United Nations, however, remains open for business, and so does the Dag Hammarskjöld Library. Digital services will now be offered remotely to our clients.

As part of the management reforms proposed by Secretary-General António Guterres, the UN is switching from a biennial to an annual budget on a trial basis, beginning with the programme budget for 2020.

We are pleased to announce that the 2018 edition of the Security Council Index to Proceedings has just been published and can be consulted online.

The Index to Proceedings gives insight into how various issues were brought before the Security Council for discussion and action, and which decisions were taken by the 15 Security Council members on questions of global concern.
