Situation Overview:

Across the Gaza Strip, the humanitarian situation continued to deteriorate throughout May 2026, due to daily strikes, shrinking humanitarian access, near-depleted aid stocks, and deepening funding shortfalls. Meanwhile, conditions across displacement sites remain dire. According to the Site Management Cluster (SMC), some 1,600 displacement sites across Gaza are currently hosting about 1.7 million people. Nearly 88 per cent of them reside in makeshift sites, while others are accommodated in collective centres or scattered locations. operational entry points according to UN2720 mechanism data

Access for humanitarian supplies remained severely constrained. Kerem Shalom and Zikim were the only operational entry points for cargo. In May, according to UN2720 mechanism data, UN and partners offloaded approximately 51,900 pallets – an increase on April but below levels recorded in January and February.
