Israeli remarks on Working paper of Land Expert – UNCCP – Note by Israel

UNITED NATIONS CONCILIATION COMMISSION FOR PALESTINE
NOTE DATED 23 MAY 1966 ADDRESSED TO THE CHAIRMAN OF THE COMMISSION
BY THE REPRESENTATIVE OF ISRAEL

The Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations presents his compliments to the Chairman of the United Nations Conciliation Commission for Palestine and has the honour to acknowledge receipt of the note from the Chairman dated 16 May 1966, enclosing a copy of the document circulated under No. A/AC.25/W.85 of the same date.

The “Observations and Comments” of the host countries on the working paper prepared by the Commission’s land expert contain a number of statements which are unfounded, and on certain points are outside the terms of reference of the Commission and of the land expert.

The Permanent Representative would reserve the right to make detailed observations at an appropriate time on the land expert’s working paper and, if necessary, on the observations and comments of the host countries.

The Israel Government's position on the general question of compensation is on record, and is fully reserved.

It is requested that this note be circulated as a United Nations document.
