PRESS RELEASE German Ambassador Opens UNRWA School in Wihdat Camp Amman, 27 April 2009 Amman – His Excellency Mr Joachim Heidorn, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, today inaugurated a girls’ school building in Wihdat Camp, constructed and equipped through a contribution of US$1.3m from the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany. The new building replaces two old deteriorated structures and provides better facilities that are more conducive to the teaching and learning process. Accompanied by the Director of UNRWA Operations in Jordan, Mr Richard Cook, the ambassador toured the new building and visited the girls and teachers in their classrooms. Expressing his deepest appreciation for the generous contribution, Mr Cook said that the new school building provides better access to quality education and learning opportunities for the 1,800 girls who use the school on a double shift basis.
