Assistant Secretary Brownfield's Travel to the West Bank and Jordan

Ambassador William R. Brownfield, Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), visited the West Bank and Jordan, January 19–23.
Ambassador Brownfield dedicated a Public Prosecutor’s Office in Bethlehem for use by the Palestinian Authority (PA). PA Attorney General Alghani Al-Ewawy and Minister of Justice Ali Muhanna joined Ambassador Brownfield and Deputy Principal Officer Yael Lempert at the dedication event, which symbolizes the broad scope of U.S. support for the Palestinian criminal justice system.
Since 2007, the U.S. Department of State has supported the PA criminal justice sector through the Palestinian Authority Security Sector Program, in coordination with the international donor community in the West Bank. The United States seeks to provide comprehensive support to the three pillars of the criminal justice system: law enforcement; the judiciary, prosecutors, and the defense bar; and corrections. Programs delivered thus far include the provision of training, equipment, technical assistance, and infrastructure support.
In Jordan, Ambassador Brownfield met with Jordanian officials to discuss a range of law enforcement training and exchange programs.
