Road Map must be adhered to

The German government welcomes any initiative that would facilitate recognition by Hamas of the three criteria laid down by the 'Quartet'.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has the full support of the German government in his effort to promote recognition of these criteria.

Government spokesman Ulrich Wilhelm noted that the form in which this takes place is for the Palestinians themselves to decide. He said the German government will look very favorably upon any initiative that supports the peace process.
