Quartet envoys meetings with Israeli and Palestinian negotiators

Quartet Envoys and Quartet Representative Blair met today in Jerusalem with the parties separately. They reiterated the September 23 statement by Quartet Principals and stressed the important objective of a direct exchange between the parties without delay or preconditions beginning with a preparatory meeting and leading to the presentation of proposals on territory and security. Envoys reiterated the call for the parties to create a conducive environment for restarting talks and urged the parties to refrain from provocative actions. Envoys remain engaged and committed to assisting the parties resume direct negotiations to achieve a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
