ORGANISATION OF THE ISLAMIC CONFERENCE
CONDEMNS ISRAELI AGGRESSION ON SYRIA
Secretary General of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, Dr Abdelouahed Belkeziz, has voiced his condemnation and denunciation of the unjustified aggression carried out by Israel against Syria this morning.
The Secretary General stressed that this aggression is a dangerous act of provocation and a flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty as well as the principles and norms of international law, and of nature to increase the situation in the Middle East region and hamper the efforts being exerted to achieve peace and security in that region.
Dr Belkeziz called on the Security Council to intervene to stop Israel and to compel it to halt these kinds of acts which could plunge the region into a new cycle of disorder and violence.
In this connection, the OIC Secretary General expressed the Organisation’s full solidarity with the people and Government of Syria, and called on Member States to show their support for Syria in these critical circumstances.
