- 26 WASH project proposals worth 17,680,292 USD were accepted for inclusion in the 2013 Consolidated Appeal Process.
- In October 2012, a total of 710 truck load of WASH material entered Gaza, and the breakdown is as follows:- UNRWA was able to bring in 503 trucks for their sewage & water systems in the re-housing project in Khan Younis; Anera brought 6 truckloads for their water projects; the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA) coordinated the entry of 99 truckloads of materials for the NGEST project & the Swedish funded storm-water project in Khalaf-Jabalia; and UNDP received 83 truckloads for their Beit Hanoun water network project; however CMWU was not able to enter any truckloads and OCHA coordinated the entry of 19 truckloads of chlorine.
- The fuel crisis in Gaza remains of concern and continues to negatively impact the provision of WASH services to Palestinians in Gaza. Currently, only 10 per cent of the population is accessing water on a daily basis. Fuel stocks were reportedly depleted by the end of the month.
- As many as 9 WASH structures have been affected by demolitions and seizures executed by the Israeli security forces (ISF) in October 2012(IN WHICH WAYS, DESTOYED OR WHAT).
- Response to the current water scarcity problems is ongoing with three agencies, ACF, CISP, and GVC, using HRF funds. In addition, a very active mid-term workshop took place as part of an ECHO-funded ‘Lessons learnt and strategic formulation exercise’ drawing on lessons learned from pervious interventions and formulating a long term response to this chronic problem in the West Bank.
