Grant Signing Ceremony for the Project for Installation of Solar panel system in Ar Rawa'in Bedouin Community,vFunded by Japan

Grant Contract for the Grassroots Human Security Project (GGP) was signed today by Mr. Takeshi Okubo, Ambassador for Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to the PA, and representative of SAMED Agricultural Society for Wall Affected at the Representative Office of Japan in Ramallah for a total amount of US$ 81,600.

SAMED Agricultural Society for Wall Affected will use the funds to install the Solar Panel system. This project's objective is to improve and benefit the life environment and school environment of all residents in the Ar Rawa'in Bedouin community which has about 200 residents (40 households).

Mr. Okubo congratulated SAMED Agricultural Society for Wall Affected and wished them success in their project. He emphasized Japan's firm commitment of supporting Palestinian people from human security perspective as well as the importance of implementing social and economic development projects needed for Palestinian communities.

Since 1993 the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance amounting to approximately $1.7 billion, to the Palestinians. GGP projects have been formulated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority through Ministry of Finance and Planning since 2010. (END)
