UNDP Special Representative of the Administrator meets
with Palestinian President Abbas in Ramallah
Jerusalem – 23 July 2013 – H.E. President Mahmoud Abbas received today Mr Frode Mauring, UNDP Special Representative of the Administrator and accompanying delegation.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the Palestinian development priorities and programmes in the coming years and UNDP’s role in supporting the execution of large projects in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza.
Mr Mauring reaffirmed UNDP’s long-term commitment to working with the Palestinian government and people in strengthening institutions and realizing their aspirations and freedom.
The United Nations Development Programme / Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People was established in 1978 via a UN resolution to improve the economic and social conditions of the Palestinian people. Since its establishment, the programme mobilized over one billion dollars of projects in the West Bank and Gaza and generated thousands of workdays in support of the Palestinian People.
