Completion of a Project for Relocating and Improving the Kobar Public Clinic
Today, May 24, 2016, Mr. Takeshi Okubo, Ambassador for the Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to the PA, visited Kobar in Ramallah Governorate to celebrate the completion of a project funded by the Government of Japan through Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).
The grant of US $105,258 extended to Kobar Village Council was utilized for the construction of one-story building for the use of a public clinic. This project aims to alleviate the financial and physical burden for the citizens in the area in accessing healthcare services. The number of direct beneficiaries expected to benefit from this project are 1,500 patients monthly.
In his speech, Mr. Okubo emphasized on Japan’s firm commitment to enhancing the human security of Palestinians as well as on implementing the socioeconomic developmental projects that will lead to the empowerment of the Palestinian communities.
Since 1993 the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance to approximately $1.7 billion, to the Palestinians. GGP projects have been formulated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority through Ministry of Finance and Planning since 2010. (END)
