Press Release

European Union supports Palestinian public service providers with a further 21 million Euros

The Temporary International Mechanism (TIM) is to disburse a further 21 million Euros in financial support to Palestinian civilian public service providers and pensioners in the first week of July. The payment will be made from a German and an EU contribution to the TIM. More than 77,000 beneficiaries will receive NIS 1,500 directly into their bank accounts, in coordination with the Palestinian Ministry of Finance.

37,000 teachers and other employees in the public education sector, as well as 12,000 public health care providers are among the beneficiaries of TIM allowances.

Since July 2006, the TIM disbursed €190 million in social allowances to civilian public service providers and pensioners.

The TIM allowances aim to support the Palestinian population in the context of the current socio-economic crisis.

In total, more than one million Palestinians benefit from the social allowances paid by the Temporary International Mechanism.
