The Symposium on Children with Hearing Disabilities

Today, March 28, 2016, the symposium on children with hearing disabilities was held at the Adnan Yousef Al-Alami Hall in Atfaluna Society for Deaf Children (ASDC) in Gaza. This symposium is focusing on the project of “CCP Japan” (Japanese NGO) under the title of “Early Detection and Intervention for Children with Hearing Disabilities” which has been funded by the Government of Japan.

“CCP Japan” and ASDC have long history of partnership for more than 20 years including this project. Mr. Takeshi Okubo, Ambassador for Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to the Palestinian Authority and Ms. Harumi Kawagoe, the Program Manager of CCP attended the symposium.

In her speech, Ms. Harumi Kawagoe, thanking the Government of Japan for its valuable support, emphasized that the project has offered various kinds of services to children in all over Gaza strip such as educational activities, home visits, sign language training, provision of hearing aide.

Meanwhile, Mr. Okubo emphasized on Japan’s firm commitment to enhancing the human security of Palestinians as well as on implementing the socio-economic developmental projects that will lead to the empowerment of the Palestinian communities in the Gaza strip.

Since 1993 the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance to approximately $1.7 billion, to the Palestinians people.
