Secretary General strongly Condemns Incursion into the Aqsa Holy Mosque and aggression on worshippers
The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iyad Ameen Madani, strongly condemned the Israeli occupation forces and extremist settlers groups who continue to break into and desecrate the Aqsa Holy Mosque, commit atrocious aggressions against the worshippers in its yards, and close its gates in an attempt to divide it temporally and spatially. The Secretary General said that these serious aggressions perpetrated systematically against the holy sites in the occupied Al-Quds city provoke the feelings of the Islamic ummah and are a grave violation of relevant international resolutions and covenants.
The Secretary General holds Israel fully responsible for the repercussions of the continuation and escalation of Israeli aggressions on the Aqsa Holy Mosque, warning against such dangerous practices which inflame religious conflict and extremism and bring about instability in the region.
The Secretary General called on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to assume its responsibilities and put an end to such serious recurrent violations, and to compel Israel, the occupying power, to respect the inviolability of holy sites.
