Human Rights Committee to Hold its Ninety-Ninth Session in Geneva From 12 to 30 July 2010

Experts to Review Reports of Estonia, Israel, Colombia and Cameroon

Reports submitted by the Governments of Estonia, Israel, Colombia and Cameroon on measures taken to implement the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights will be reviewed by the Human Rights Committee at its ninety-ninth session, which will be held in Geneva at the Palais Wilson from 12 to 30 July 2010.

On the first day of the session, the 18 member Committee will adopt its agenda and programme of work. The Committee will then hear, in a closed meeting, from representatives of non-governmental organizations and specialized agencies on the situation in the countries that it will review.

The Committee is scheduled to examine the third periodic report of Israel on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning, 13 and 14 July;

The Committee will adopt and make public its concluding observations on the implementation of the Covenant by these countries at the end of its three-week session on 30 July.

The countries to be reviewed during this session have presented reports to the Committee before.

The Committee reviewed the second periodic report of Israel on 24 and 25 July 2003, issuing concluding observations on it in document CCPR/CO/78/ISR.
