Japan participates in Palestinian product fair – Japan MoFA press release/Non-UN document

Palestinian Product Fair was held in Jericho Agro Industrial Park (JAIP)

The Representative Office of Japan and PIEFZA (Palestinian Industrial Estates and Free Zones Authority) held “Palestinian Product Fair” in Jericho Agro Industrial Park (JAIP) in co-operation with the developer company of JAIP, “JAIP Company (JAIP Co.)”.

Fifteen Japanese businessmen visited JAIP and had a meeting with Palestinian business leaders and visited the Fair. Forty two Palestinian companies, including thirteen companies which have already signed contracts with JAIP Co. to be tenants of JAIP, participated in the Fair to exhibit their products such as dates, olive oil, soaps, salt, marbles, machineries, etc. .

The idea for Jericho Agro Industrial Park (JAIP) started in 2006 as a core project of the Japanese government’s initiative called “Corridor for Peace and Prosperity”, as a mid-long term efforts for a sustainable economic development.

Japan’s assistance to the PA is extended in a form of budget support or in forms of specific development projects. Japan has been supporting financially and technically the economic development efforts exerted by key ministries, to help prepare the PA for statehood in line with the PA's national development plans. Japan has also provided assistance through UN agencies including humanitarian assistance, as well as to local NGOs and local councils for their grassroots development projects. Japan’s assistance amounts approximately USD 1.5 billion in total since 1993.
