Grant Signing Ceremony for GGP Project in Palestine
Funded by Japan

The Project for Renewing Medical Beds in the Surgical Department of St. Joseph's Hospital

Today, October 20, 2015, Mr. Takeshi Okubo, Ambassador for the Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to the PA, signed a Grant Contract for the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) with the General Director of St. Joseph Hospital, Mr. Jamil Koussa, at the Representative Office of Japan in Ramallah for a total amount of $89,435.

St. Joseph Hospital will use the funds to install new medical beds with electrical nursing control system, in order to alleviate the burdens on the patients and medical staffs and to better operate the treatment for patients in the hospital.

Mr. Okubo congratulated the grantee and wished them success in their project. He emphasized Japan's firm commitment of supporting Palestinian people from human security perspective as well as the importance of implementing social and economic development projects needed for Palestinian communities.

Since 1993, the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance to approximately $1.6 billion, to the Palestinians. GGP projects have been formulated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority through MoPAD since 2010.
