Grant Signing Ceremony for two GGP Projects in Palestine
Funded by Japan

Grant Contracts for two GGP projects were signed today by Mr. Junya Matsuura, Ambassador for the Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to the PA, and the representatives of Al Jib Village Council and Ubeidiyeh Municipality at the Representative Office of Japan in Ramallah for a total amount of US$ 206,085.

Al Jib Village Council received a grant of US$ 103,085 that they will use for the renovation works needed in Ibn Khaldoun Basic Boys School to provide 250 students of Al Jib Village with a proper educational environment to enjoy their learning path.

As for Ubeidiyeh Municipality, they will use their grant of US$ 103,000 to rehabilitate a part of the water network that is old and damaged and has pipes of unsuitable diameters to enhance the water provision for about 1900 residents that are suffering from lack of water especially in the dry season.

Mr. Matsuura congratulated Al Jib Village Council and Ubeidiyeh Municipality and wished them success in their projects. He emphasized Japan’s firm commitment of supporting Palestinian people from human security perspective as well as the importance of implementing social and economic development projects needed for Palestinian communities.

Since 1993 the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance to approximately $1.5 billion, to the Palestinians. GGP projects have been formulated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority through MoPAD since 2010.
